The Door Opens
Orbit of Ashes by Ruhan Mehta
The first sign that Orbit of Ashes would not be an ordinary story arrived before sunrise. On a dying space station above a burned Earth, a mechanic finds a child’s memory chip that proves humanity’s last war was staged.
A phone buzzed, a door stood open, a letter waited where no letter should be, and the life the protagonist had carefully arranged began to tilt. Outside, the city kept moving as if nothing had happened. Inside, one sentence changed the temperature of the room: this was not the beginning, it was the return of something buried.
They tried to ignore it for exactly nine minutes. Then the second message arrived with a detail only one person could know. That person was supposed to be gone.
By the final page of the chapter, a choice is forced: stay safe and lose the truth forever, or step into a mystery that already knows their name.
